Caitlin Clark put on a masterclass against the Connecticut Sun, pouring in 34 points and dishing out 12 assists as the Indiana Fever cruised to a commanding 111-91 victory. Remarkably, teammate Kelsey Mitchell matched Clark's 34-point haul - a historic double act for the franchise.
Clark's stat line was staggering in its own right. It marked the fifth time this season she has recorded a 30-point, 10-assist game. For context, every other player in WNBA history has managed that feat just four times combined.
Fever centre Makayla "KK" Timpson didn't hold back after the final buzzer, calling Clark the "GOAT" of the league. Clark laughed off the praise but was clearly grateful for her teammate's words.
She also revealed she's feeling physically sharp heading into the international window, noting that lingering back problems have eased. Her approach? Stop overthinking. Just play. A "next play" mentality, as she put it.
The post-game festivities got an unexpected upgrade when gymnastics icon Simone Biles visited the Fever locker room. The team shared footage of Biles exchanging hugs and snapping photos with Clark, Mitchell and their teammates - a fitting way to cap a night of record-breaking basketball.
The Fever now enter a three-week hiatus as the FIBA Women's World Cup takes centre stage. Clark, alongside Aliyah Boston and head coach Stephanie White, will head to Berlin to represent Team USA. Clark acknowledged her role will shift to supporting her national teammates while still bringing her playmaking instincts to the court.
Indiana return to WNBA action on 18 September against the Toronto Tempo.
