Eintracht Frankfurt ground out a hard-fought 1-0 win away to Union Berlin in the Frauen-Bundesliga on Sunday, with Laura Freigang netting the decisive goal.
Frankfurt, still licking their wounds after a recent Champions League qualification exit, showed resilience on the road. Freigang's deflected header proved the difference between the two sides in what was otherwise a tightly contested affair.
Sara Doorsoun had the chance to double Frankfurt's lead from the penalty spot but was denied by Union goalkeeper Nadi Böhi, who produced a fine save to keep her side in the contest.
Despite the missed spot-kick, Frankfurt never looked in serious danger of surrendering their advantage. The visitors controlled proceedings even without injured midfielder Larissa Mühlhaus.
For Union Berlin, the search for a first point of the season goes on. The hosts struggled to create meaningful chances and remain rooted to the bottom of the table.
Frankfurt, meanwhile, hold firm in third place - a position they'll be keen to build on as the campaign progresses, as OneFootball reports.
