Ashley Sanchez delivered a stunning two-goal display to become the North Carolina Courage's all-time single-season top scorer in a commanding 2-0 victory over Angel City.
The midfielder now sits atop the National Women's Soccer League scoring charts with 15 goals this campaign - and she's showing no signs of slowing down.
Sanchez opened her account in the 41st minute, converting after a clever backheel flick from Evelyn Ijeh. That strike - her 14th of the season - drew her level with Lynn Biyendolo's record, which had stood since 2019.
The decisive moment arrived in the 78th minute. Goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan launched a long ball forward, and Sanchez burst past three defenders before finishing coolly. Sheridan raced upfield to celebrate with her, as reported by AP.
The result extended an impressive run for the Courage - five wins from their last six matches. For Angel City, it snapped a streak of four consecutive draws.
The night was marred by an injury to Maycee Bell, who was making her 50th NWSL regular-season appearance. She was stretchered off early in the second half with an apparent arm injury.
