Two of the most dominant women's flyweights in the UFC are on a collision course. Erin Blanchfield (12-1) and Manon Fiorot (11-1) have been booked to square off at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on 30 March, Sherdog reports. The bout is the first confirmed for the upcoming UFC on ESPN card.
Blanchfield has been virtually unstoppable since her sole professional defeat - a split decision loss at Invicta FC 34. She has since reeled off nine straight victories, six of them inside the Octagon. Most recently, she earned a unanimous decision over former title challenger Taila Santos.
Fiorot is equally impressive on paper. The Frenchwoman boasts 11 wins, with six coming in the UFC. Her last four outings have all gone to the scorecards, but she has beaten high-calibre opposition along the way, including Mayra Bueno Silva and Rose Namajunas.
With both fighters desperate to stake their claim for a title shot, this Atlantic City clash has all the ingredients of a genuine contender-eliminator.
