Manon Fiorot's preparation for her clash with Erin Blanchfield has drawn high praise from coach Flavio "Peroba" Santiago, who says the French fighter's commitment in the gym sets her apart.
Santiago revealed that Fiorot drills new techniques obsessively until they become second nature and is constantly engaged in tactical conversations about her development. It is that relentless approach, he suggested, which continues to elevate her game, as Sherdog reports.
The coach singled out Fiorot's karate-style guard as a nightmare for opponents to crack. He described her defensive skills as hellish to deal with and expressed confidence that her cage defence will frustrate Blanchfield's takedown attempts when the two meet.
Santiago also reflected on the rapid growth of MMA across France over the past two years. Jiu-jitsu and MMA academies are springing up at pace, he noted, and the UFC's forthcoming Paris event has whipped fans into a frenzy of anticipation.
