Puja Tomar is set to etch her name into the history books by becoming the first female Indian fighter to step inside the UFC Octagon. The strawweight contender will face Brazil's Rayanne Amanda dos Santos at a UFC Fight Night event on 8 June.
The bout was confirmed by Tomar's representatives at First Round Management Europe, as Sherdog reports.
Tomar carries an 8-4 professional record into the contest and arrives in formidable shape - riding a four-fight winning streak that includes three finishes. Her most recent outing saw her successfully defend her Matrix Fight Night strawweight title with a stoppage victory over Anastasia Feofanova.
Dos Santos brings considerable experience with a 14-7 record. She appeared on Dana White's Contender Series in August 2022, losing to Denise Gomes, but rebuilt her momentum with three successive wins on the regional circuit before earning her place on the UFC roster.
It shapes up as a fascinating clash of styles - Tomar's finishing ability against the battle-hardened Brazilian's wealth of experience.
