Former UFC flyweight title challenger Taila Santos has signed with the Professional Fighters League ahead of its 2024 season, marking a fresh chapter after parting ways with the UFC.
Santos was let go by the UFC following a decision defeat to Erin Blanchfield in April 2023, bringing her time with the promotion to a close.
Santos came agonisingly close to UFC gold when she challenged Valentina Shevchenko for the flyweight belt, falling short via split decision in a fight many believed she had done enough to win.
She earned that shot off the back of four straight victories, capped by a first-round submission of Joanne Wood - a run that established her as one of the division's most dangerous contenders.
Santos's arrival coincides with a significant structural shift at the PFL. The organisation is scrapping its women's featherweight division and replacing it with a women's flyweight tournament, as Sherdog reports. The number of fighters set to compete in the new bracket has yet to be confirmed.
