NJ/NY Gotham FC's impressive unbeaten streak is over. Denver Summit FC delivered a ruthless 3-0 demolition on Sunday afternoon - the second meeting between the sides this season - and exposed some serious cracks in the Gotham setup.
The warning signs were there long before this defeat. Across their entire ten-game unbeaten run, Gotham managed just 14 goals. Worse still, the team has found the net only once in their last three outings. That kind of drought was always going to catch up with them.
Head coach Nick Cushing now has real problems to solve. There are growing suggestions that Gotham were tactically underprepared for Denver, and with tough fixtures ahead, adjustments are urgently needed if the club want to avoid a full-blown slump.
