Team USA are through to the FIBA World Cup final after grinding out a 76-66 victory over Spain in the semifinals. It wasn't always pretty - the Americans struggled badly from beyond the arc - but they found other ways to get the job done.
With their outside shooting misfiring, the US leaned heavily on trips to the foul line, converting 27 of their 35 attempts. The 10-point winning margin was their slimmest in a World Cup semifinal since 2010, underlining just how hard Spain pushed them.
Breanna Stewart top-scored for the Americans with 16 points, supported by Kahleah Copper (13) and Jackie Young (12). Spain's Iyana Martín and Maria Conde were the game's joint-highest scorers, netting 17 apiece in a spirited effort.
