Granada welcome Real Sociedad on Sunday in a Round 2 Primera División Femenina clash between two teams desperate to get their 2026-27 campaigns off the ground. Both opened with defeats last weekend and neither can afford to fall further behind this early in the season.
Granada fell 3-1 at Madrid CFF in their opener, while Real Sociedad suffered a 2-0 home loss to EDF Logroño. La Real's troubles run deeper - they also bowed out of the UEFA Champions League, losing both legs to Chelsea (5-2 and 1-0) in the third qualifying round just days ago. Three consecutive defeats will weigh heavily on confidence.
Real Sociedad have dominated this fixture recently, winning three of the last six meetings and drawing two. Crucially, Granada's sole victory came back in September 2023. Last season, Real Sociedad hammered Granada 3-0 at home, while the reverse fixture at Granada ended 2-2. The Basque side have historically found the net with ease in this matchup.
Granada's home advantage could be significant - they managed a draw here last term and claimed that 2023 win on home soil. However, Real Sociedad possess greater pedigree despite their early-season wobble. Fatigue from the midweek Champions League exertions may hamper La Real, handing Granada an opportunity to capitalise.
