Stuttgart head to Franconia on Saturday riding a wave of confidence. Two matches, two wins, six points - it's been a flawless start to the Frauen Bundesliga season. They edged Hoffenheim 2-1 away on the opening weekend, then followed it up with a 2-1 home victory over Hamburger SV. Both wins came via second-half comebacks, revealing a squad with composure under pressure.
The hosts face a very different reality. After shipping eight goals to VfL Wolfsburg in a brutal 8-2 home defeat on matchday one, Nürnberg did show resilience by earning a 1-1 draw away at Eintracht Frankfurt. That point offered some solace, but the defensive numbers remain alarming - nine goals conceded in just two matches.
Stuttgart average two goals scored and just one conceded per game. Nürnberg average 1.5 scored but a staggering 4.5 against. The gulf in defensive solidity is stark. Stuttgart have yet to keep a clean sheet themselves, but their ability to outscore opponents has been decisive.
Nürnberg's home record this season - one match, one loss, eight goals shipped - offers little encouragement. Stuttgart's composure in tight games and superior overall form make them favourites. However, Nürnberg showed against Frankfurt that they can compete away from the chaos of that Wolfsburg demolition. Expect Stuttgart to control proceedings, but a shutout feels unlikely given both sides' defensive vulnerabilities.
