RB Leipzig and Nürnberg enter Round 4 of the Frauen Bundesliga without a single victory between them this season. Leipzig sit on one point from three matches, while Nürnberg have collected two draws but also carry the scars of an 8-2 mauling by Wolfsburg on the opening day. Something has to give on Saturday.
Leipzig have managed just one goal in three league outings - a dire average of 0.3 per game. Their home record is especially alarming: a 0-2 loss to Bayer Leverkusen in their only fixture on their own patch. They failed to score in two of their three matches and have yet to keep a clean sheet.
Nürnberg score freely but defend poorly. Six goals scored yet twelve conceded tells the story of a side that entertains without ever controlling matches. Their 3-3 draw with Stuttgart last time out summed it up perfectly - leading at half-time before collapsing after the break.
Leipzig hold the edge in this fixture. They won 3-1 at home in February and also claimed a 1-0 victory at Nürnberg in 2024. The reverse fixture last October ended 1-1. Leipzig have never lost to Nürnberg in four previous meetings.
Leipzig desperately need a home win to kick-start their campaign, and Nürnberg's leaky defence offers an opportunity. Yet Leipzig's chronic inability to score makes nothing straightforward. Nürnberg's attacking verve could exploit a backline that has conceded five goals in three games. Expect a tight, nervy affair between two teams low on confidence but hungry for that elusive first three points.
