VfL Wolfsburg crashed out on penalties against Inter Milan while Eintracht Frankfurt were thrashed 1-5 by Paris Saint-Germain, ending Champions League hopes for both German sides.

VfL Wolfsburg's women's side saw their Champions League hopes dashed in agonising fashion. Having taken a 2-0 advantage into the second leg against Inter Milan, Wolfsburg were unable to protect their cushion and suffered a 1-3 defeat on the night.
That levelled the tie and sent it to penalties, where Inter held their nerve to prevail 5-4 from the spot - a gut-wrenching exit for the German club.
Eintracht Frankfurt fared no better in their bid to reach Europe's premier club competition. A 1-5 hammering at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain ended their campaign emphatically.
Captain Laura Freigang and her teammates were already facing an uphill battle when Hayley Raso was shown a red card. From there, PSG were ruthless, as reported by Soccerdonna, with Frankfurt unable to recover from the early deficit.
It marks a double blow for Bundesliga sides in the Champions League qualifying rounds. Neither Wolfsburg nor Frankfurt could find a way through, leaving German women's club football without representation in the group stages.
