NJ/NY Gotham FC stretched their unbeaten streak to ten matches on Friday night - a new club record - but had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Portland Thorns FC at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
It's the second consecutive stalemate for Gotham, whose remarkable run now stands at seven wins and three draws. Frustrating? Perhaps. But historic nonetheless.
Jaedyn Shaw broke the deadlock on the hour mark with a delightful chip over Portland keeper Mackenzie Arnold. It looked like it might be enough, but Sophia Wilson had other ideas, converting from the penalty spot to level things up for the Thorns.
One concern for Gotham: Jordynn Dudley was repeatedly fouled throughout the contest, eventually requiring treatment and being forced off the pitch. Protecting the midfielder from this kind of persistent targeting is becoming an urgent priority for the coaching staff, as reported by OneFootball.
