Sunderland have wrapped up a permanent deal for French defender Tess Laplacette, making her the club's ninth summer signing. The 27-year-old arrives from Olympique de Marseille, where she spent a combined eight years across two separate spells in the Arkema Première Ligue.
Laplacette's time at Marseille was marked by two promotions - no small feat. Beyond the south of France, she also turned out for Paris FC and Lille OSC, building a solid CV in French football. At youth international level, she represented France at both Under-17 and Under-19 level.
Speaking after the move was confirmed, Laplacette said she was delighted to join and is looking forward to testing herself in English football, as OneFootball reports.
With nine new faces through the door this summer, Sunderland are clearly building with ambition ahead of the season.
