Iga Świątek has ended her 2026 title drought in emphatic fashion, sweeping past world No. 2 Elena Rybakina 6-2, 6-3 to claim the Canadian Open crown. The 75-minute demolition hands the Polish star her 26th career title and her 12th at WTA 1000 level.
Świątek seized control early after Rybakina gifted her a break with a double fault. From there, the former world No. 1 was relentless - dropping just four points on her first serve in the opening set and wrapping it up in 29 minutes.
A pivotal moment arrived at 3-2, when Świątek faced two break points on her own serve. She saved both, slamming the door shut on any Rybakina momentum.
The second set followed a similar script. Świątek broke again and kept the pressure suffocating, while Rybakina's unforced errors mounted. The Kazakh had won their previous two meetings, including at the Australian Open earlier this year, but looked a different player in Toronto.
The head-to-head between the pair is now locked at 6-6 after 13 encounters - a rivalry that shows no sign of cooling off.
The triumph will lift Świątek back to No. 5 in the WTA rankings, a timely surge heading into the latter stages of the season.
