Athletic have slammed a new Liga F investment deal, calling it a threat to the competition's future - even though walking away won't spare them from its consequences.

Athletic have flatly refused to back a freshly signed agreement between Liga F and an investment fund, warning the deal threatens the long-term health of Spanish women's football.
The arrangement, inked on Monday, would funnel 40 million euros to clubs across four years. Sounds generous. The catch? The fund would pocket 49% of Liga F's gross commercial revenues for a staggering 25 years, dropping to 35% thereafter.
Athletic aren't buying it. The club estimates the deal could cost Liga F clubs upwards of 100 million euros in lost net revenue over that quarter-century window. That's a brutal trade-off for short-term cash, and both current and future clubs would feel the squeeze.
Here's the kicker: even though Athletic have walked away from the table, they can't fully escape. Future commercial income across the league will be tied to the contract, meaning the Basque club will shoulder Liga F expenses without reaping the fund's benefits.
It's a lose-lose scenario Athletic clearly want no part of - yet find themselves tangled in regardless, as OneFootball reports.
