Emma Navarro has booked her place in the U.S. Open quarter-finals for a second time, dispatching Anna Kalinskaya 6-4, 6-2 in a commanding straight-sets display on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
It was a notable turnaround for the American, who had lost both previous encounters with the Russian. This time, Navarro was clinical from start to finish.
Standing between Navarro and the semi-finals is compatriot Jessica Pegula, who earlier cruised past Sorana Cirstea 6-3, 6-4. That fourth-round match proved to be Cirstea's final Grand Slam appearance - an emotional farewell on the big stage.
For Pegula, a victory over Navarro would send her into a third consecutive U.S. Open semi-final - a remarkable run of consistency at Flushing Meadows.
