Real Madrid head into Saturday's fixture in blistering form. They opened the new Primera División season with a 3-2 home victory over Atletico Madrid, then dispatched Ajax across two UEFA Champions League qualifying legs - winning 2-0 away and 2-1 at home to advance. That makes it four wins from four across all competitions this term, with nine goals scored.
Eibar began their campaign with a disciplined 1-0 home win over Espanyol, keeping a clean sheet. Their defensive solidity carried over from the end of last season, where they also shut out Alhama and drew 0-0 at Sevilla. However, a 4-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid in May shows they can be overwhelmed by top-tier opposition.
The history between these sides reads like a Real Madrid highlight reel. They have won five of the last six meetings, scoring 9 goals while conceding just one. Eibar's sole victory came in January 2025 - a shock 1-0 triumph at the Bernabéu. Beyond that single result, Real Madrid have been utterly dominant, winning by a combined 8-0 in the other five fixtures.
Real Madrid's attacking firepower and home advantage make them strong favourites. Eibar will need to replicate the defensive resilience they showed on matchday one, but the quality gap between Espanyol and Real Madrid is enormous. Expect the hosts to control proceedings, though Eibar have proven they can frustrate bigger clubs on occasion.
