Lexi Thompson has dropped a bombshell. The LPGA star revealed she is expecting her first child - a baby girl - due in February.
Thompson took to social media to share the news, posting a photo alongside husband Max Provost and a sonogram of their daughter. The couple only tied the knot in March at a private estate in Southwest Florida.
Here's where it gets tricky. Thompson is set to tee it up at The Standard Portland Classic this week - her first competitive appearance since withdrawing from a tournament in June with a hip injury.
She's been playing a part-time LPGA schedule as it is. Now, with a pregnancy to manage, her place on the US Solheim Cup team looks seriously doubtful. Just two events remain before selections are finalised.
Whether she can realistically push for a spot is anyone's guess. The timing raises serious questions about her competitive priorities heading into one of golf's most prestigious team events.
