Goalkeeper Cajsa Andersson has swapped relegation heartbreak for title ambitions after completing a move from Linköping FC to Hammarby.
Andersson spent close to a decade with Linköping before the club's drop out of Damallsvenskan forced her hand. She described the relegation as feeling like a personal failure and acknowledged how painful it was to be part of a squad going through such a difficult period.
Securing a move as a goalkeeper is never straightforward - openings are scarce and competition fierce. But Hammarby quickly stood out as the right destination, as reported by Fotbollskanalen.
Andersson initially found playing time hard to come by at her new club. Still, she relished the environment and felt her game was improving. After the summer break, regular minutes started to come her way, and she has now featured in six Damallsvenskan matches as well as Champions League qualifying ties.
One of the biggest contrasts Andersson noticed was the sheer scale of Hammarby's operation. The club boasts dedicated staff for media, marketing and other off-pitch functions - a far cry from the leaner set-up at Linköping.
Andersson is not at Hammarby simply to make up the numbers. Her stated goals are clear: win the Swedish championship and make an impact in European competition. With the club's resources and ambition behind her, those targets look entirely realistic.
